Joe T. and Afrodisa band is a unique band that is attracting an enormous amount of attention around the nightclub and venues of Australia.
The band consists of a combination of remarkably gifted and experienced musicians and their distinctive and powerful music and clearly demonstrates the rare talents of it’s members.
Afrodisa was formed in February 1988 in Melbourne and in that period of time have managed to cultivate an army of dedicated fans who regularly flock to their gigs to soak up the wild party atmosphere they generate. The secret to their attention incorporates an unusual fusion of assorted “roots” with styles including Hi-life, Reggae, and Calypso music, as well as their own indefinable flavor, providing the band with a totally unique sound.
Afrodisa’s music is based on African rhythms, Reggae, Calypso and some popular music, which gives it an infectious dance feel, yet it’s appeal is extended with guitar, keyboard, bass and percussion instrumentation. With their precise and articulate arrangements and soulful vocals, Afrodisa gathers interest from a broad section of musical tastes.
In 1988 the band performed as a support act for David Lee Roth in Melbourne at the National Tennis Centre and at the Therbarton Theatre in Adelaide. In 1989/90 the band was sponsored by Larrikan Records to play in Sydney at the Kakadu Club, Darlinghurst, Newcastle University and the Rocks Restaurant.
Joe T. and Afrodisa have proven themselves popular at Clubs and at a variety of functions interstate and other parts of Victoria including Geelong, Castlemaine, Barwon Heads and Portland.
The band has appeared at Jazz After Dark at the Victorian Arts Centre and had sell out nights at several venues following a successful run of festival appearances including St. Kilda, Prahran, Port Melbourne, Essendon, Williamstown, Moomba and Melbourne International Music Festivals.
Currently, Afrodisa perform each Friday and Saturday night at Casablanca Niteclub in Caxton St, Brisbane.

Since relocating to Brisbane, Joe T. has become relatively well known through the Brisbane club scene due to his involvement as lead singer with local reggae band, Klub Hi-Life. With the group Joe T. has performed regularly at various clubs in Brisbane, Sunshine and Gold Coasts, The Rolling Rocks, Beach Chalet, Sheraton- Noosa, The Avenue, Marina Mirage, Watermark Hotel, Cavill Mall, The Bourbon Bar, Dockside, Chill Bar, Club Afro-Carib, Heron Island, Mackay Festivals, Tea Tree Plantation Rest, Jindalee Golf Club, Warana Festival, World Vision Functions At Tattersal Club, and Hilton Hotel and weddings and parties.
In 1995 the band performed as a Duo at M Town Disco in Chengdu-China, and 1999 performed at Players Nite Club in PNG. At present Afrodisa is a Duo whilst they use sequencer to back up the music to sound like a big band. The Band can also perform form as many as 2 piece to 8 piece depending on the sort of function.
Afrodisa performs every Friday and Saturday night at Casablanca Nite Club in Brisbane.
